Have you heard the buzz about portable oxygen concentrators (POCs)? Many users have found them to bring a tremendous sense of freedom and happiness. There is no greater feeling than being able to go where you want when you want without having to worry about not having enough oxygen. These are some awesome facts about how POCs can empower you, too!

Improve Happiness

With normal portable oxygen concentrators, many may find themselves feeling down or even depressed because they feel like their freedom is limited. No matter what age you are, nobody likes to be limited by a heavy piece of equipment.

Can Withstand Wear and Tear

Because these devices are meant to take with you everywhere, they can hold up to the bumps and bruises of travel. They come with a protective case that holds everything you need in one place. This is not always the case with an at-home oxygen concentrator. This is a tremendous benefit because you don’t want to have to worry about your machine breaking when you are far from home. These portable devices are up for the challenge.

Promote an Active Lifestyle

Get out and move, or at least that’s what you should be doing with a POC! No longer do you need to be limited to a homebody life, but you can engage in activities that are meaningful to you outside of the home. Many enjoy the freedom of being able to exercise with others or go for a walk in the beautiful spring weather. After a long winter, now is the time to open your doors and get out to see nature.

The Two Types

There are two types of POCs: Shoulder and Pull. They are both great options depending on what needs you have for travel. They take in the air around them, filter it and give you clean oxygen back.

Shoulder

Each device is going to vary to some degree, so you need to decide what works best for you. Many who are physically active like the ones that you can carry on your shoulder. It is inconspicuous and looks like a normal carrying bag. For example, if you go to the gym, the machine will be able to keep up with the rate of oxygen you need while staying out of your way with its compact size. Think about the ease of carrying everything you need on your shoulder, instead of managing a heavy and accessory heavy device. Some designs that we carry are:

  • Invacare Platinum Mobile Oxygen Concentrator: The batteries can be easily changed on top.
  • Care Freestyle Companion: This is under 5 pounds and has an easy one-touch operation.
  • Respironics Simply Go Mini: This has five different settings and comes with a stylish carrying bag.
Pull

The pull options typically look like a small suitcase. Take a look at our Eclipse version so you have an idea of what they look like. They are usually slightly bigger than the shoulder versions but are still very light.

  • Respironics Simply Go: This comes with a two-wheel cart. It is similar to the mini, but it weighs 10 pounds.
  • Eclipse: This weighs 15 pounds and can be easily pulled.
