Home Medical Equipment Information

Don't be intimidated by the hundreds of choices in medical equipment and supplies. You don't need to research brands, models and features. Instead, you can rely on the caring, experienced professionals at CarePro Home Medical to help you choose the right home medical equipment for your health needs and lifestyle. Below, we’ve provided some basic information on some of our most popular home medical supplies.

CarePro Home Medical’s Home Medical Equipment and Supplies include:

Ambulatory Aids

Ambulatory aids help patients whose legs are unable to bear body weight or who suffer from leg pain.

Canes  – Canes provide weight-bearing relief on the legs. Canes improve balance and security by adding a third point of contact with the ground and often take the brunt of an impending fall. Canes also allow you to maintain your independent movement.

Crutches – Crutches support more than 50 percent of your body weight during movement. Crutches are most commonly used for short-term needs and/or clients who do a lot of walking or stair climbing. We will specially fit your walker to make sure it is the best size for you.

Walkers – For significant help with weight-bearing needs, walkers offer more stable support. Walkers are recommended for older clients and/or those living in a single-level home. We have a wide selection of walkers that are lightweight and foldable for easy transportation. We also offer walkers with single-release and dual-release triggers for added stability for clients with limited hand dexterity.

Bath Aids

Bath aids are used to enhance your safety while showering or bathing. Bath aids include:

Grab bars - Grab bars prevent accidents due to the slippery floors of bathrooms. A bathroom grab bar or handrail promotes your independence and keeps you safe.

Shower chairs - Clients of CarePro Home Medical who require a sturdy seating support during showering are often in need of a shower chair. Shower chairs provide the support you need and allow you to shower without help.

Bath lifts / hoists - If you find it difficult to get in and out of a bath tub, a lift or hoist can help. A lift or hoist helps you move in and out of the tub with support. Bath lifts/hoists give you full-access to your bathroom again while providing support and safety you need.

Diabetic Footwear

Peripheral neuropathy, or the loss of sensation in the extremities, is a common side-effect of diabetes. Shoes that don't fit properly can cause lesions and ulcers, the number one reason people with diabetes visit the hospital. Diabetic shoes that are fitted properly have good air circulation and special insoles to help prevent sores and injuries. At CarePro Home Medical, we take the time to discuss your needs and specially fit your shoes so they're comfortable and properly cushioned. And who says your feet can't look good too? We carry a selection of diabetic shoes for men and women that will fit your personal style.

Hospital Beds

Manual hospital beds - The bed, head and foot sections of these beds can be raised or lowered with the use of hand cranks. Our manual beds are most often used when a caregiver is readily available for the patient. We also offer assist rails and safety rails for added security and peace of mind.

Semi-electric hospital beds - The head and foot sections of a semi-electric bed are controlled electronically while the entire bed height is adjusted by using a hand crank. These beds are cost-effective and allow you some independence at home.

Electric hospital beds - Electric beds are entirely controlled by an electric panel. These beds make it easier for you to get in and out of bed and to sit up more conveniently.

Incontinence Supplies

If you are having trouble choosing a product for incontinence, we can help. We offer a selection of undergarments that vary from light to heavy overnight protection. In addition, we have bed and couch/chair pads for added protection around your house.

Lift Chairs

A lift chair has a special lifting mechanism which will raise you safely into a standing position. Lift chairs vary by fabric, color or style. Some lift-chairs can recline almost completely so they can be used as beds. Others stay upright for reading or watching TV. Whatever your needs are, we can find a lift-chair perfect for your height, weight and home decor.

Orthotic devices correct abnormal or irregular walking patterns and are used to make walking or running more comfortable and efficient. They are typically recommended to help ease foot, ankle and knee pain, but can sometimes also help ease hip and pelvis pain as well as headaches.

If you need help supporting your foot, knee or ankle, we offer wedges and cushions for your shoes, ankle braces, ankle supports and knee braces to help treat and prevent injuries.

Our custom-fitted inserts cushion and support your arches and help realign your posture. Other products such as ankle/knee braces and splints help treat and prevent injuries.

Ostomy Supplies

Ostomy supplies are used for the collection of waste after a stoma is created. This need is most commonly associated with surgeries such as colostomies, ileostomies, and urostomies. We carry:

•Liners and bags
•Pouch covers and support belts
•Adhesive tape and adhesive removers
•Barrier creams
•Stoma caps

Respiratory Devices

Have you been told you snore? You might have sleep apnea, a dangerous medical condition. Left untreated, apnea can cause hypertension, stroke, or even a heart attack. It can also be responsible for car accidents and poor performance in everyday tasks.

What is sleep apnea?

Sleep apnea is a potentially life-threatening condition where a patient's breathing will repeatedly start and stop while he or she is sleeping. If you've already been diagnosed with sleep apnea, you'll likely need a CPAP or BiPAP device. CarePro Home Medical can help you with CPAP/BiPAP equipment and supplies.

CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) - Used in treatment of sleep apnea, a CPAP machine generates a steady stream of air through a CPAP mask to help open the airway.

BiPAP (Bi-level Positive Airway Pressure) - BiPAP machines are similar to CPAP machines. However, a BiPAP generates two levels of pressure, one for breathing in and one for breathing out. BiPAPs are often for those who have difficulty adjusting to the continuous air flow of a CPAP.

Nebulizers / Compressors - These machines deliver a mist of medication through a nebulizer mask. It can help with narrowed airways, mucus building and expectoration. Portable nebulizers are lightweight and convenient for traveling.

Urological Supplies

Intermittent Catheters - Intermittent catheters drain urine from the bladder when normal draining fails. They also reduce the possibility of urinary tract infections and further damage to your kidneys.

Foley Catheters - Foley Catheters are used during infections to drain urine from the bladder.

Drainage Bags - for the leg, beside and belly.

Wound Care Supplies

Medical and surgical tape - plastic, cloth, paper.
Sterilization and preparation - wipes, swabs, creams, ointments.
Protection - gloves, masks, cleansing scrubs.
Dressings - adhesive, foam, transparent.
Protection - ointments, cleansers.
