Accounting Supervisor

Rayser Holdings—Cedar Rapids an opportunity for a full-time Accounting Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of the Accounting team. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating financial functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger and bank reconciliations and supervising the Accounting team.  

This position is scheduled for Monday thru Friday from 8:30 am - 5 pm. Our ideal candidate will be dependable, possess strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, attention to detail, and be able to manage a team.

Duties of the position include, but are not limited to: 

  • Coordinates and supervises the daily operations of the Accounting team
  • Oversees the work of employees by assigning tasks, communicating job expectations, reviewing and appraising performance
  • Ability to perform all tasks within the Accounting team
  • Prepares bank reconciliations and deposits
  • Completes credit applications for approval
  • Contacts Company locations and vendors to resolve issues such as unpaid invoices, checks not cashed, missing credits, etc.
  • Prepares and posts journal entries weekly and monthly in compliance with Company procedure
  • Prepares and processes biweekly payroll using payroll software
  • Maintains budget database and ensures accuracy of financial results
  • Responsible for month-end closing
  • Addresses inquiries and resolves discrepancies regarding accounting and payroll transactions as needed
  • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned

Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant field; CPA certification is a plus; minimum of 3 years accounting experience or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred; Supervisory experience required; Strong computer skills; NetSuite software experience desirable; Solid knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, laws, and regulations; Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel (using financial formulas and creating spreadsheets); Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills; Requires the ability to think strategically, set goals, and drive performance within team to achieve results.
