What is infusion care?

Infusion care is when you're looking at having your medications infused into your body which is coming through your vein. So your nurse will come out and train you on how to run the pumps, talk to you about the medication you're receiving, and then train you or your caregiver on how to do that when the nurse is not there, how to switch out cassettes. It takes sometimes one visit, sometimes three visits, as many visits as it really takes to get you comfortable and confident that you can do that on your own without the nurse being there. And then the nurse would still come out on a weekly basis to help you do dressing changes of the site and also monitor on how well you're doing and report back to the doctor and do labs as well.
